The big benefit of a working holiday in Australia's Northern Territory, aside from the cash, is you get more time to experience a lifestyle and culture that's completely different from the rest of Australia and, in fact, the world. The lifestyle of the Northern Territory is second to none, and while you’re working, you can explore and experience the essence of Australia’s Outback.

Types of work available

Cattle Stations
You’ll find some of the biggest Australian cattle stations in the NT and many station owners like to employ backpackers/travellers on a casual basis. Help is required for anything from fencing to mustering to working as a chef, kitchen hand or domestic. Usually no experience is required, but if you can ride a motorbike or a horse and have a background in agriculture, all the better.

Hospitality
Hospitality workers are in high demand (particularly during May to October) and travellers can easily pick up regular, fun work. The types of positions on offer include chefs, cooks, food and beverage waiters, hotel administration, kitchen hands and hotel maintenance. Other jobs include foreign language tour guides, serving beer in an outback pub or housekeeping at a remote eco resort.

WWOOFing - Willing Workers on Organic Farms
WWOOFing is a great way for travellers to see the Territory. While you won't make any money through the WWOOF program – basically you work in exchange for food and accommodation – you do gain first-hand experience of organic farming and get to learn about Australian farm life.
