Australia, the epic movie starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, alongside the Top End’s breathtaking scenery, brings a touch of Hollywood to an often forgotten episode in Australia’s history.
The prize includes:
- Return flights with Jetstar from an Australian capital city to Darwin
- Two (2) nights hotel accommodation in Darwin
- Car rental and/or touring
- Two (2) nights accommodation in either Litchfield National Park or World Heritage-listed Kakadu.
Each holiday package is valued at approximately $4,000.
There are also 100 minor prizes valued at approximately $100 each consisting of a Northern Territory backpack, drink bottle, cap, stubby cooler, lip balm, pen and Jetstar disposable camera. The competition is courtesy of Jetstar, Territory Discoveries and Tourism NT.
How to enter - When, Where, How
Purchase a ticket for Australia at participating Palace Cinemas for your chance to win one of five trips for two to Darwin, valued at $4,000 each. There are also 100 Northern Territory packs to be won valued at $100 each.
To enter, attach your Palace Cinema Australia ticket stub to the entry forms provided in the cinema. Competition closes at 11:59pm AWST on December 18, 2008.

Tourism NT and Palace Cinemas - "Darwin: one of the stars of Australia" competition.
By entering the Tourism NT and Palace Cinemas, Luna/Palace Cinemas in WA and Nova/Palace Cinemas in SA (hereafter "Palace Cinemas") - Darwin: One of the stars of Australia" competition (the “Competition”) you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
1. STANDARD TERMS
1.1. Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry in the Competition.
2. WHO CAN ENTER?
2.1. Subject to clause 2.2, entry in the Competition is open to all residents of Australia.
2.2. Directors, management, employees and their immediate families of Palace Cinemas, Tourism NT, Territory Discoveries, Jetstar and their associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter the Competition.
3. HOW TO ENTER
3.1. The Competition commences on 26 November 2008, at 8am (AEST) and concludes on 18 December 2008 at 4pm (AEDST) (the "Competition Period").
3.2. In order to enter, cinema patrons must purchase a ticket to Australia the movie (hereafter Australia) at any Palace Cinema and fill in an entry form in accordance with these terms and conditions.
3.3. Entrants must submit a completed entry form in the marked competition entry box at any participating Palace Cinema venue in Australia. The entry form must include the information specified in clause 3.4.
3.4. The Entry form must include:
a) the entrant's full name, address (including postcode), daytime telephone number and email address; and
b) 25 words or less describing “Why is Darwin one of the stars of Australia" which must be included on the entry form.
c) a valid and original Palace Cinemas ‘Australia’ ticket stub.
3.5. As conditions of entry into this Competition, and by entering a Submission, you:
a) warrant and represent that you own all rights to the Submission;
b) warrant and represent that your Submission
I. is original to you and has been legally obtained and created;
II. does not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights or any other legal or moral rights of any third party, or violate applicable laws or regulations;
III. has not been entered in or won previous contests or awards; and
IV. irrevocably grant to the Promoter and its subsidiaries and affiliated companies, the non-excusive perpetual licence to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, and publicly display the Submission (including moral rights in connection with the Submission) in any media throughout the world for any purpose, without limitation, and without additional review, compensation, or approval from you or any other party.
3.6. Entrants in the Competition may enter as many times as they like, however, only one entry form will only be issued for each single Australia ticket purchased at Palace Cinemas.
3.7. The time of entry for will be the time at which the entry form is received by the Promoter. No confirmation of receipt of entry will be given.
3.8. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to reject bulk entries which it considers to be falsified or not issued as the result of ticket purchase to Australia at a Palace Cinema.
4. PRIZES
4.1. There will be one major prize winner in each of the following states:
I. New South Wales
II. Victoria
III. South Australia
IV. Western Australian
V. Queensland.
4.2. There will be 100 minor prize winners across Australia.
The winner will receive the prize package as set out in 4.12.
4.3. The major prizes each consist of:
One (1) x Territory Discoveries and Jetstar holiday package for two (2) people to the Northern Territory.
The major prize includes: Return flights with Jetstar from an Australian capital city to Darwin
Two (2) nights hotel accommodation in Darwin
Car rental and/or touring
Two (2) nights accommodation in either Litchfield National Park or World Heritage-listed Kakadu.
Each holiday package is valued at approximately $4,000
The total value of the five (5) holiday packages is approximately $20,000.
Prize values are based upon the recommended retail prices and are correct as of 27 October 2008. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any change in prize value between now and the ultimate travel date.
4.4. Unless expressly stated in these Terms and Conditions all other expenses of whatsoever kind required or needed to use or accept the Prize become the responsibility of the Winner. The Winner (and their companion) are responsible for all expenses other than that specified, including but not limited to spending money, transfers, meals drinks, incidentals, mini-bar, laundry, room service, telephone calls, activities, insurance, taxes (including departure and fuel levy taxes), energy surcharges, gratuities, services charges, passports, travel insurance and all other ancillary costs. Taxes and fuel levies may vary at any time prior to ticketing. Travel insurance is the responsibility of the Winner and their companion. The Promoter and the Sponsors are not liable for any costs incurred if the Winner or their companion travels without insurance. A credit card imprint or cash deposit may be required from the Winner at check-in to the hotel, for all incidental charges.
4.5. Flights leave from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth or Brisbane. The Winner and their travelling companion must travel on the same flight. Travel arrangements to and from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth or Brisbane airport do not form part of the prize and are the responsibility of the Winner.
4.6. The travel Prize is only valid for travel between February 1 2009 and January 31 2010. All travel must be completed by 31 January 2010, unless dates are changed by the Promoter. The Prize is valid until 31 January 2010. Flights and accommodation are subject to availability at the time of booking, are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for other destinations. Embargo restrictions apply during certain periods. In periods of heavy demand (eg school holidays, Christmas, Easter, etc) availability may be limited. Therefore the prize winner should liaise with the Promoter as soon as possible after the win to nominate travel dates.
4.7. The Winner and their travelling companion must be able to travel on the days specified in clause 4.5.
4.8. The accommodation type offered for each Prize is specified in clause 4.2 and must be taken in consecutive nights' stay. Where the accommodation type has not been specified, it will be provided as a twin share standard room.
4.9. In participating in the Prizes, the Winner (and their companion) agree to participate and co-operate as required in all editorial activities relating to the Competition, including but not limited to being interviewed and photographed. The Winner (and their companion) agree to grant the Promoter a perpetual and non-exclusive licence to use such footage and photographs in all media worldwide and the Winner (and their companion) will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
4.10. The Winner agrees they will not, and will ensure that their companion does not, sell or otherwise provide their story and/or photographs to any media or other organisation.
4.11. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. The Winner should seek independent financial advice about any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings.
4.12. The 100 minor prizes valued at approximately $100 each consisting of a Tourism NT:
- backpack
- drink bottle
- cap
- stubby cooler
- lip balm and pen
- Jetstar disposable camera
Total value of all the minor prizes is approximately $10,000.
4.13. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. The Winner should seek independent financial advice about any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings.
5. HOW TO WIN
5.1. All entries completed and submitted in accordance these Terms and Conditions will be judged at the Promoter's office at Tourism NT Head Office, Level 4, Tourism House, 43 Mitchell Street Darwin NT 0800 on 23 January 2009 at 10am. One major prize winner from each state will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by the Promoter. The Winner will be the entrant whose entry fulfils the entry criteria and entry is judged to be the most creative and original from all entries received in their State. The minor prizes will be awarded to the 100 next best entries received. This is a game of skill. There is no element of chance in the judging of the Competition or determination of the Winner.
5.2. The Winner will be notified by a phone call or via email at the conclusion of the judging, and a letter advising the Winner of their prize will also be mailed.
5.3. The judges' decision (including any decisions as to prize distribution) is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the result.
5.4. You are not entitled to any particulars or other information of any kind concerning what Submissions were received, considered or were awarded prizes.
5.5. You are not entitled to any particulars or other information of any kind concerning the persons appointed to judge the Competition, their decision or any notes or materials used or relied upon by them in coming to their decision.
5.6. It is a condition of accepting the Prize that the Winner may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
5.7. It is a condition of accepting the Prize that the Winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the Prize and the Prize supplier's requirements. To the extent of any inconsistency with these Terms and Conditions, the terms and conditions of the prize supplier prevail.
6. NO LIABILITY
6.1. Subject to any restrictions in law, the liability of Tourism NT, Territory Discoveries, Jetstar and Palace Cinema however arising, whether by breach of any condition or warranty implied by statute or of this agreement or of any duty of tort (including negligence) is limited to the total value of the Prize.
6.2. Tourism NT, Territory Discoveries, Jetstar, Palace Cinemas and their associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any misadventure, death, accident, injury, loss (including but not limited to consequential loss) or claim that may occur:
a) in the participation in any prize;
b) as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected entries; or
c) due to the publication of any material, including any statements made by any staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person.
6.3. Tourism NT, Territory Discoveries, Jetstar, Palace Cinemas and their associated agencies and companies assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.
6.4. If, for any reason, this Competition is not capable of being conducted as planned, including, but not limited, due to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Competition, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition, subject to state legislation.
6.5. In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter's ability to proceed with the Competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the Competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions.
6.6. The Terms and Conditions of this Competition are to be governed by the laws of the Northern Territory of Australia and you agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the courts and tribunals of that territory.
