Morning Bird Tour at the Desert Park
4 hours for $50

Enjoy a morning tour with a Desert Park bird specialist and be introduced to the relaxing and rewarding art of bird watching. The tour is followed by breakfast and then at your leisure explore the wonders of the Park including the Changing Heart Big Screen Movie, Nocturnal House and the Nature Theatre. You had better watch out as you just might catch birding fever!

A Day at the Territory Wildlife Park
1 day for $20 (adults)

Take a leisurely trip to see all the Territory Wildlife Park has to offer. Over 140 species are on display including black bitten, beach stone-curlew and jacana. Other birds that have been sited at the Territory Wildlife Park include the collared sparrowhawk, Australian owlet nightjar, cattle egret, little woodswallow, black necked stork, torresian crow, shining flycatcher, blue winged kookaburra, orange footed scrubfowl, and the red headed honeyeater and many more.

Included:

  • Daily Birds of prey Presentations 10am and 3pm.
  • Nocturnal trips will be on offer from May 2008 (costs apply)
  • Special guided tours with ornithologists are available on request (costs apply)
  • Shuttle train between exhibits
  • All daily presentations

Olive Pink Botanical Gardens
No charge (donations appreciated)

There are great bird watching opportunities at the Olive Pink Botanical Garden with over 80 native species recorded. Commonly seen birds include the western bowerbird (there are 2 active bowers on site), grey-crowned babblers, striated pardalotes, mistletoe birds, peewees, pied butcher birds, Australian ringnecks, rainbow bee eaters (summer only) and spiny-cheeked honeyeaters.
