Birds of the Barkly Tablelands

This independent self drive takes you from Alice Springs through the Davenport Ranges to Lake Woods, Elliot and Tennant Creek. Visit key birding hotspots and a wide range of desert habitats including remote permanent waterholes in the ranges. Bird species include the Pink-eared Duck, Spotted Harrier, Black-tailed Godwit, Spinifex Pigeon, Flock Bronzewing, Spotted Nightjar, Red-backed Kingfisher, Spinifexbird, Red-browed Pardalote, and the Painted Finch.

*Minimum 1 person; Maximum 6 people. The area is very rugged and camping will be necessary is most cases outside of Tennant Creek or other larger settlements. Clients should be prepared for rough, hot and difficult conditions particularly in summer. The winter season is much cooler.
