Top End Aboriginal Art

The Territory’s northern reaches encompass a culture rich in artistic heritage. Aboriginal art from the Top End reflects the intimate connection between the people and the land. Venture into the remote art regions of Katherine and Arnhem Land and uncover the technique of transforming creation stories into art.

Indigenous festivals are held across the Northern Territory typically from May through October. Communities open their doors, drop the permits and welcome travellers to share their story. Activities include art sales and auctions, traditional music and dance, bush tucker displays and tasting and, sometimes just to add to the excitement, a sporting event.
