Ballooning

You just float away from the earth. There’s no feeling of movement, because you travel with the wind. It’s like the ground leaves you.

It’s tranquil, smooth and beautiful and you’re up in the sky at the best time. The sunrises are just unbelievable.

You get a great glimpse of how big and vast this land really is. It’s quite romantic I suppose.

I’ve had 9 wedding, 8 engagements, dropped 3 peoples ashes and plenty of skydivers out of the balloon.

One of the engagements was a ‘no reply’. The gentleman got down on one knee and proposed… there was no answer. She took the ring in the box, but didn’t put the ring on the finger.

That was about 6 years ago, but they are now married and have a little baby boy, so it did work out in the end, but at the time it was a very long flight!

Outback Ballooning Adventure

Hot-air balloon pilot Byron Hall has been soaring above the ridges of the outback all his life.

Just like the watercolours of Albert Namatjira, an outback sunrise from aloft is like viewing a painting of pastel blues, purples and yellows.

The early start is rewarded with a silent journey across the expansive semi-arid landscape, waiting as the sun spreads its rays between desert oaks and mulga scrub.

The trip ends with images of the Australia's outback crowding your mind.
