Daly Waters

We're not 5 star, probably a couple of moons.

People really associate this place with pioneering Australia.

The rodeo weekend is always a highlight, and over the last couple of years it's been the B&S Ball.

Christmas day is good here. We're open for business, but whoever turns up gets a free lunch and a few drinks.

So more than anything, it's our attitude I think, that gives this place its reputation.

Whether you are from Hungary, Germany or Japan, it doesn't matter. We don't treat you any differently.

We know you're here to have a good time and enjoy yourself and we try to enjoy ourselves too.

How else could you work for yourself and go to the pub at seven o clock in the morning? - Lindsay Carmichael, Publican

Outback story

The easy-going style of publican Lindsay Carmichael welcomes outback travellers for a cold beer and a tall tale.

The old stock routes, new highways and challenging four-wheel drive tracks of the Northern Territory lead travellers to remote outback pubs with loads of character.

Walls covered in foreign currency, old horseshoes, cast iron cooking pots and branded hats left by visitors, tell a thousand stories, all with the same chapter of outback exploration.
