Destinations / Alice Springs / Outback
Alice Springs is the heart of Australia’s outback. Surrounded by a sand sea the size of Europe, experience her outback desert landscape and you will discover it is anything but barren.
Visit the award winning Alice Springs Desert Park, which provides a fascinating insight into ecological life in Central Australia's arid zone habitats, or hand feed lizards and handle pythons at the Alice Springs Reptile Centre, which houses the Northern Territory’s largest reptile display.
Other natural attractions include the Larapinta Trail, one of the world’s most highly recognised walking trails, which stretches over the spine of the West MacDonnell Ranges. Don’t miss the fiery colours of Standley Chasm or the picturesque swimming holes such as Ellery Creek Big Hole, Ormiston Gorge, Glen Helen Gorge and Redbank Gorge.
The East MacDonnell Ranges provide beautiful scenery for bushwalking, camping and four-wheel driving.
