Kakadu and Arnhem Land facts and guides
Come and play in our backyard... Kakadu National Park.
In Australia the ‘backyard’ is one of our most important outdoor areas. As the world expands, space is at a premium and backyards seem to be getting smaller. Fortunately our backyard is bigger than Wales!...it’s called Kakadu National Park and it’s an adventure playground only 3 hours from Darwin.
You can swim under massive waterfalls, walk through sandstone galleries of ancient Aboriginal rock art or cruise the scenic Yellow Water - a billabong teeming with wildlife. One of only a handful of World Heritage-listed sites, it is listed for both its natural and cultural values.
There are a range of accommodation options in Kakadu, ranging from campgrounds to hotels, so all bases are covered.
Our backyard is home to the world’s oldest living culture, who have told their story through art, song and dance for over 50,000 years. Become part of our story, and then go home with your own.
